"It's a NEW Season at Zion"
Exodus 12:2

In January 1957, Rev. Noah E. Taylor called together thirty-two (32) persons to meet in the home of Sis. Beatrice  Gordon to organize “The Zion Baptist Evangelistic Temple” Baptist Church.  Without an edifice of our own, we worshiped with the Evergreen Baptist Church where Rev. Bailox was the Pastor.  On the second Sunday in July 1957, the Lord led us to our present location of 600 West Rosecrans Avenue, Compton, California.  In April 1962, Pastor Taylor’s health began to fail, yet he continued to lead his flock to higher heights.  On August 4, 1963, he retired as Pastor. On December 22, 1963, Dr. C. Albert Henson was duly installed as our Pastor.  Having served well and having fought a good fight, on October 5, 2002, Dr. Henson was called home to be with the Lord.  On October 19, 2002, Zion said farewell to its Shepherd of thirty-nine (39) years in a home going service indicative of Dr. Henson’s service as Pastor. On January 28, 2003, the members of Zion came together and voted to call Reverend Kevin E. Stafford as the Pastor.

In November of 2013, our congregation transitioned into our facility at 601 W. Rosecrans Avenue, Compton, California.  Though the transition has been challenging, the Lord still has His hand on our church and we are still standing strong.

We thank God for the rich history that characterizes our Church; however, we believe that God has much more for us to do.  The struggles have been real.  However, we celebrate our past looking forward with awesome anticipation to our future.
